MSCW Tech
Sessions
General Information
Technical Sessions (or
Tech Nights) are sponsored by MSCW in conjunction with local
dealers or automotive establishments. Tech Sessions provide an
opportunity for you to raise your Mazda on a lift and perform
minor maintenance with the help of professional mechanics and/or
fellow MSCW Club members. Minor maintenance is classified as
work you can perform yourself usually within
an hour. Routine maintenance such as fluid changes (oil, tranny,
bleeding brake lines), gaskets, brakes, tire rotations, fuel
filter changes, etc. are the most common repairs during Tech
Sessions. Strut, springs, or more time consuming work requires
advance coordination with the MSCW coordinator and needs to be
accomplished in a timely manner to ensure we are out by 8:30
p.m.
Parts Departments are generally
open to 7:00 p.m. Members are encouraged to purchase part from
the hosting establishment to help ensure we are invited to return.
Tech Sessions are held in both Virginia and Maryland
MSCW Tech Session
Etiquette
Tech Session etiquette requires common
sense and a respect for the establishment that is graciously
allowing us to use their facility. Guidelines are as follows:
- Tech sessions are a benefit
for MSCW members only, non-members are welcome to socialize and
join MSCW.
- You need to bring your own tools,
generally mechanics own their tools not the establishment.
- Show up at the scheduled time,
dont show up ahead of our scheduled time, the shop needs
to clear out their day customers before we can get in and closing
time is very hectic.
- Restrict your work to something
you can perform in one hour.
- Dont ask to use the engine
analyzer, wheel balancer, etc. Take advantage of the lift, being indoors and the technical expertise.
- Support the local dealer that has invited us to use their shop by buying parts with your club discount prior to 7:00.
- Buy new Mazdas and parts from the Dealers that support our club, mention to the Dealer that you are buying from them in thanks for their hospitality and rapport you have established with their technicians.
- RSVP to sign up for a lift and
to help us anticipate attendance.
Stop by even if you are not planning
to work on your car. We hope to see you at one of our events.
